IE Business School received 1,500 alumni from 30 countries at its Annual Alumni Conference held in Madrid on November 21.
This yearâ??s conference focused on â??Business in Times of Economic Uncertaintyâ??, analyzing the challenges brought by the US crisis, its impact on the world economy, the stance taken by Europe, the advance of emerging economies, and business opportunities in this new corporate landscape. Speakers included Jim Oâ??Neill, Director of Economic Research at Goldman Sachs; JosÃ© Manuel GonzÃ¡lez PÃ¡ramo, Member of the European Central Bank; Xavier Sala i MartÃ, Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Columbia; Guillermo de la Dehesa, President of the Center for Economic Policy Research and President of the IE Advisory Board; Santiago FernÃ¡ndez Valbuena, General Director of Finance and Corporate Development at TelefÃ³nica; and Belarmino GarcÃa, President of the IE Alumni Association.
The Annual IE Alumni Conference is a key event in the Schoolâ??s Alumni Association calendar. The Association runs management education programs coupled with leisure and sporting activities designed to strengthen links among the Schoolâ??s 35,000 alumni, who hold management positions in over 100 countries. The Association also coordinates 82 alumni clubs around the world.
