How to use your lunch break effectively: IE Lunch & Learn

Written on October 22, 2012 by Dirk Hopfl in IE News

There are many ways to use your lunch break. Forbes recently published a list about it and I would like to benchmark it with the upcoming IE lunch events:

1. Make a plan – definitely!
2. Take a real break – yes!
3. Get up from your desk or work space – no doubt about it
4. Eat – food provided!
5. Enjoy your food – how do you best enjoy your food? In company…
6. Do what you can’t do in the morning or evening – you have to be at the office at a certain time, but don’t know when to leave. So, lunch is your only ‘secure’ time for off-office activities
7. Use the time to connect with someone new – promised!
8. Catch up with old friends – you can bring your friends!
9. Engage in activities that will help you re-energize – we will show you something that will motivate you for a long time
10. Network – up to you…
11. Don’t get stuck in a routine – sure you won’t
12.  Avoid all screens – re-edit: avoid almost all screens
13. Don’t take too long or too short of a break – one hour is just right

So, as long as you’re interested and keen to further your career you have 13 reasons to join our upcoming IE Lunch & Learn events. All events are held at The Executive Centre, Ocean Financial Centre (Level 40), Raffles Place in Singapore from 12noon to 1pm.

IE’s Global MBA ranks 1st worldwide

Written on July 19, 2012 by Dirk Hopfl in IE News

IE Business School has been ranked the No. 1 business school in the world by the QS Distance Online MBA Ranking, an international survey conducted by QS Intelligence Unit.

The ranking examines the quality of online, distance and blended MBA programs, and is based on criteria that include the employability of graduates, student profiles, levels of diversity, faculty, academic experience and international accreditations of the MBA program.

The ranking reflects the fact that in 2008 4.4% of MBA program candidates were interested mainly in online and distance MBAs, rising to 15.6% in 2012. Nunzio Quacquarelly, editor of the Top MBA Careers Guide, said that the attraction of this type of MBA is growing among candidates and recruiters, who recognize the value of such programs run by prestigious schools. “This new ranking provides a snapshot of a sector that is evolving fast. It’s a new tool that will help students select an MBA program.” Newton Campos, Director of Admissions for Blended Programs at IE Business School, says that there has been a major shift in the mentality of businesses, particularly in innovative, high-tech companies that operate online. “These firms prefer graduates from our blended MBAs, which combine online and onsite learning, to traditional face-to-face programs. Recruiters realize that these graduates have the profile and skills they need.” Read more…

IE Global MBA – introducing even more flexibility

Written on August 6, 2010 by Dirk Hopfl in Explore IE, Go for IE

The continued demand of online education, makes IE launching a second intake in March 2011 of its renowned Global MBA.

Since already 4 years, the IE Global MBA provides candidates with an extraordinary flexbility when studying their MBA program. They can continue progressing within their corporations meanwhile they connect on a daily basis to the online campus, exchanging experiences and discussing cases in teams like in the full-time MBA class.

Every Saturday they enjoy the class setting through videoconferences where teams have to present their conclusions on a given case discussing it with the entire class moderated by the professor. If you’re working in an international oriented company, videoconferences are most likely to be happening at some stage of your career development and during the program you learn the tools to efficiently conduct those conferences.

Due to the increasing demand of the Global MBA and a more diversified outreach, IE introduced last year a second time slot for the Saturday Videoconferences. Now, those sessions can be followed from 11am to 3pm and from 4pm to 8pm (Madrid time). The second time slot boosted the diversity in class and the program counts now with 43 different nationalities within a class size of about 70.

… and there is another good news: in addition to the September intake , IE launches a second intake, starting in March 2011. The official program start is set for March 19, 2011 and the first residential week starts on March 28, 2011. This first residential weeks helps to know the other team and classmates as well as the professors. The second residential week at the end of the program is rounding up the whole online experience with the graduation together with the full-time MBA. Being awarded the same degree, it makes sense that both classes graduate together!

The next virtual presentation will be on September 8 at 1pm Madrid time (7pm Singapore time). You can sign up for on our event page and explore in the meanwhile the IE Global MBA web.
